When opened in 1874 by Arthur Lakes, the Colorado School of Mine's Geology Museum was simply called a "mineral cabinet" but today the museum features over 50,000 examples of minerals fossils and gemstones. The museum is on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines, north of the Fossil Trace Golf Club. Visitors can peruse the Gemstones exhibit, explore the radioactive exhibits, and see what fossils Colorado has to offer.
