not so angelic

I was sorely disappointed w/this salon. I received a gift certificate (which had the value of $65) for a basic facial. First of all, this place is located above a liquor store (complete w/garbage truck and traffic noises outside). Then, the atmosphere is cheesy, old fashioned and cheap. Fake flowers, mismatched swaths of fabric draped everywhere, paneled walls, accordion style "doors", a renovated bathroom stall for a shower, dingy carpet, etc. The owner did my facial and she was very unclear in her instructions, assuming, after I had already told her otherwise, that I had been to a spa before. The towels smelled musty and were stained as if they came from a Motel 6. Then she waxed my brows too thin (after I specifically asked her not to). Plus, before I came in, she would not answer her phone all day (she was short-staffed) to reschedule an appointment due to their insufficiency to fit me in at my original time. Then, as I was paying for my wax job, she pressured me into buying some of her product. Overall, it was a relaxing experience (when I knew what was going on) and the sauna and tub were nice (and hopefully clean) and HOT. But I would not recommend this to anyone who is expecting peace, elegance, and a calming and healthy experience.
